Non-recommended foods

To encourage good health and good development for the baby, some foods should be avoided:

All uncooked food (cooked meats, smoked fish, raw meat, dried meat etc.) but also unpasteurized milk and unpasteurized foods (patés, cheese, etc.) are not recommended for pregnant women. They can carry the Listeria bacteria. This can be very dangerous for the foetus.

Alcohol is clearly to be avoided during pregnancy. Alcohol level in the mother's blood is equivalent to the alcohol level in the baby's blood, and can affect the baby's neurological development.

Tobacco is strongly not recommended. Effects on your child's health are proportional to the quantity of smoke, even for passive smokers. The consequences can be very significant: miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, pre-term labour...

See a doctor if you wish to stop smoking.
